Maritime Basic Safety Training

Objective

The objective of the Maritime Basic Safety Training course is to ensure that delegates are trained in accordance to the STCW Code & subsequent 2010 Manila Amendments which aim to promote safety of life and property at sea and the protection of the marine environment.

Target Group

The Maritime Basic Safety Training course is for any person working, or planning to work, commercially in waters that are bound by the STCW Convention & Code.


Course Length

5 days - Course length will vary depending on the number of students. Total course time includes breaks.

Validation

5 years

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites for this training course.

Examination

Delegates will be continually assessed against the course contents and requirements of the STCW code.
Upon completion of the course, delegates will be issued with an MCA-approved Maritime Basic Safety Training certificate which is valid for 5 years upon which time delegates must update their proficiency in selected modules.

The Maritime Basic Safety Training course covers four modules in training:

• Personal Survival Techniques
• Personal Safety and Social Responsibility
• Elementary First Aid
• Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting
